Introduction to Latitude and Longitude

Rationale Students are introduced to the meaning of longitude and latitude, the method of notation, and associated vocabulary.
Instructions Students can work at the computer individually or in small teams. They should be instructed to look carefully at the information provided on The Mariner’s Museum website entitled Introduction to Latitude and Longitude - http://www.teachingboxes.org/catalog.jsp?id=TBOXR-000-000-000-025. Once the students feel that they understand the material, they should proceed to Activity #10 of that site, and follow the online directions.
